Windows 7 does "see" files in a share when they are created, XP does
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 file server with several shared folders. One of the shared folders is named "Scans" and it is the target for a network copier that scans files. When a document is scanned Windows XP users see the document appear in the Scans folder immediately. The problem is that Windows 7 users cannot "see" the document until hours or days after it has been scanned. Therefore, Windows 7 users have to contact Windows XP users and ask them to email them the documents they scan. Troubleshooting steps taken: Refreshing view of Scans folder and disabling Offline Folders Interesting fact: When I create a document on a computer and place it in the Scans folder the Windows 7 computer can see it immediately. As far as I can tell, this is only a problem when the copier creates the file and a Windows 7 computer tries to view it. Does anyone have any idea why a Windows 7 computer would not be able to "see" files in a Windows share that Windows XP computers can see? Thank you in advance!

Hi, Please make sure that the user on Windows 7 has full permission to access the shared folder. Since the document you created can be viewed successfully, it is to say there is no problem on Windows 7 settings. Therefore, please also contact Windows Server Forum to check the settings on server. Thank you for your suggestion. I will check the server forums. However, I don't believe it is a server problem for these reasons: 1. The same user account on a Windows XP computer sees files immediately after the copier sends a file to the scan folder on the server. 2. The same user account can manually create, edit and delete files in the scan folder on Windows XP & 7. 3. The same user account on a Windows 7 computer cannot see files in the scans folder until a significant amount of time has past since their creation. After that interval they have full access to the file. I still suspect that is a Windows 7 issue stemming from a new feature related to caching, indexing or access control. If I find something in the server forum that resolves this problem I will post it back here. Until then, any other ideas out there?

Hi, Since Windows 7 sync slowly to the networking shared files, please run the following command to check the result. netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled netsh int ip set global taskoffload=disabled Note: Please open the CMD window with Administrator Privileges.
